This year our men’s national team will be flying to Latvia in Dec to compete in the Men’s World Floorball Championship (WFC 2016). When they train and fight hard for the team, it’s not just for themselves, they are also competing to bring glory and honor to the country. But guess what, years and years these athletes are self-funded.

We are an extremely tiny nation but our leaders never fail to wiki the world, well subtly, how financially strong we are. Our GDP per capita is US$53,000 in 2015. Really?

It just bewilders me my country’s governing body for sports is not grooming and funding passionate local sports talents adequately enough for the world class arena but yet we are willing to host F1 races which may not be profitable. To host an F1 race, cost is about US$100 million.

And Nico Rosberg from Team Mercedes just won the F1 Grand Prix here on 18th Sept.
